Frequently Asked Questions
New to massage or unsure what to book? You are not alone. These answers are designed to help you feel informed, comfortable and confident before visiting EverLife Functional Wellness Center.
For complete information about informed consent, privacy, professional draping, personal boundaries and client expectations, please review EverLife’s Client Rights, Responsibilities & Informed Consent document.
Choosing and Booking
1. I’ve never had a professional massage. What should I expect?
You will begin with a brief conversation about your goals, comfort, health history and areas you would—or would not—like addressed. Amanda will explain the session, answer your questions and personalize the massage to your needs. You remain in control of your comfort throughout the entire appointment.
2. How do I know which massage service to book?
Choose the service that most closely matches your main goal:
-
Relaxation Massage: General relaxation, stress relief and restorative self-care
-
Therapeutic or Clinical Massage: Focused attention for persistent tension, muscular discomfort or functional concerns
-
Deep Tissue Massage: Firmer, more sustained pressure for deeper muscular tension
-
Lymphatic Massage: Very light, rhythmic techniques intended to support lymphatic flow
-
Focused Massage: Targeted attention to one primary area during a shorter appointment
If you are still unsure, choose the closest option. Your session can be adjusted after Amanda discusses your needs with you.
3. What if I accidentally book the wrong service?
That is completely okay. Amanda will review your goals before beginning and help determine the most appropriate approach. If the needed service requires a
different amount of time, price or preparation, your available options will be explained before proceeding.
4. What is the difference between relaxation, therapeutic, clinical, deep tissue and lymphatic massage?
Relaxation Massage uses flowing, Swedish-based techniques to encourage relaxation and reduce everyday tension.
Therapeutic Massage combines techniques based on your muscular tension, discomfort and individual goals.
Clinical Massage is more focused and purpose-driven, with attention to specific muscular or functional concerns within massage therapy’s scope.
Deep Tissue Massage uses slower, more sustained pressure to address deeper layers of muscular tension. It does not mean maximum pressure everywhere.
Lymphatic Massage uses exceptionally light, gentle and rhythmic techniques. It feels very different from traditional massage and should not involve deep pressure.
5. How much appointment time should I choose?
-
30 minutes: One focused region or a very specific concern
-
60 minutes: A focused session or general full-body massage
-
100 minutes: Multiple areas, more detailed work or a slower full-body experience
-
120 minutes: The most comprehensive, unhurried session for multiple goals or full-body restoration
If you have several areas you would like addressed, a longer appointment will allow more complete and comfortable attention.
6. Can I request attention to one particular area?
Yes. Your massage can emphasize areas such as the neck and shoulders, back, hips, legs, feet, hands or forearms. Please explain your priorities during your consultation so the available time can be used effectively.
7. How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments are scheduled online through the Book Now page at www.everlifefunctionwell.com. EverLife operates by appointment only, and advance booking is recommended. If you need help choosing a service, please contact EverLife before booking.
Privacy, Comfort and Pressure
8. Do I have to remove all my clothing?
No. You undress only to your personal comfort level and may leave on as much clothing as you prefer. Amanda will leave the room while you prepare and will knock before reentering.
Please review the Client Rights, Responsibilities & Informed Consent document for complete clothing, privacy and consent information.
9. How will I be covered during the massage?
You will remain securely covered with professional draping. Only the area currently being massaged is uncovered, and your privacy will be protected throughout the appointment.
Please refer to the Client Rights, Responsibilities & Informed Consent document for the complete draping policy.
10. Which areas of my body will be massaged?
The areas addressed depend on the service selected, your goals, your consent and the available appointment time. Amanda will discuss the intended areas with you before beginning. No area will be massaged without your permission.
11. Can I decline a technique or ask not to have a particular area massaged?
Absolutely. You may decline any technique or area, request a different position, change the pressure or stop the session at any time. Your comfort and consent are essential parts of every EverLife appointment.
Please refer to the Client Rights, Responsibilities & Informed Consent document for your complete rights.
12. Does therapeutic or deep tissue massage have to hurt to be effective?
No. Effective massage does not require you to endure pain. Some techniques may feel intense, but pressure should remain within a tolerable and productive range. Please speak up at any time so the pressure, technique or positioning can be adjusted.
Preparing for Your Appointment
13. What should I do before and after my massage?
Before your appointment, complete the required forms, eat lightly if needed, maintain your normal hydration and avoid arriving under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. Afterward, move gradually, return to normal activity as comfortable and pay attention to how your body responds.
14. Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?
Mild, temporary tenderness or fatigue can occasionally occur, particularly after focused or deeper work. Severe, worsening or lasting pain is not expected. Contact an appropriate healthcare provider if you develop concerning or unusual symptoms.
Health and Safety
15. What health information should I disclose?
Please share relevant medical conditions, medications, allergies, pregnancy, recent injuries, surgeries, changes in sensation, unexplained symptoms and any instructions from your healthcare providers. Complete information helps Amanda determine whether massage should proceed, be modified or be postponed.
16. What should I know before receiving massage?
Contact EverLife before your appointment if any of the following apply:
-
Fever, contagious illness or active infection
-
Vomiting, diarrhea or other acute illness
-
New or unexplained swelling
-
Redness, warmth, tenderness or pain that could indicate a blood clot
-
Chest pain, difficulty breathing or other urgent symptoms
-
Open wounds, burns, contagious skin conditions or active rashes
-
Recent surgery, injection, fracture or significant injury
-
Current cancer treatment or recent radiation
-
Pregnancy or a recent high-risk pregnancy concern
-
Heart, kidney or circulatory conditions
-
Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication
-
Uncontrolled high blood pressure or another unstable condition
-
New numbness, weakness, loss of function or unexplained severe pain
-
Any condition for which your healthcare provider has restricted massage, activity or pressure
Having one of these circumstances does not always mean massage is unavailable. It may mean the session must be postponed, modified or approved by your healthcare provider. Possible blood-clot symptoms, chest pain, difficulty breathing or other urgent concerns require prompt medical evaluation—not a massage appointment.
17. When is physician or healthcare-provider clearance requested?
Clearance may be requested when a condition, procedure or symptom could make massage unsafe or requires medical guidance. Examples include recent surgery, an acute injury, unexplained swelling, possible blood-clot risk, active cancer treatment, certain heart or kidney conditions, high-risk pregnancy or restrictions already given by your healthcare provider.
EverLife may postpone or decline a session when there is not enough information to provide it safely.
18. Can massage replace medical care, physical therapy or rehabilitation?
No. EverLife provides independent massage and non-medical wellness services. Massage does not diagnose or treat medical conditions and is not a replacement for evaluation or care from your physician, physical therapist, chiropractor or other licensed healthcare provider.
Arrival, Payments and Policies
19. How early should I arrive for my first appointment?
Please arrive approximately 10–15 minutes early for your first visit so you have time to settle in and complete any unfinished forms. Returning clients should arrive a few minutes early and be ready to begin at the scheduled appointment time.
20. What happens if I arrive late?
Your session must still end at its scheduled time so the next client is not delayed, and the full appointment fee will apply. If your late arrival leaves insufficient time to provide the service safely or appropriately, the appointment may need to be rescheduled according to EverLife’s policies.
21. What forms of payment does EverLife accept?
EverLife currently accepts cash and major payment cards. Insurance is not billed or accepted at this time. HSA or FSA eligibility depends on your individual plan and EverLife’s current payment capabilities, so please confirm before relying on those funds.
22. What are the deposit, cancellation and rescheduling requirements?
A 50% deposit is required when booking. Cancellation, rescheduling and late-notice fees apply according to EverLife’s published policies. Please review the Information & Policies page before reserving your appointment for the complete requirements.

Not Sure Which Service to Book?
That's completely okay—you don't need to know exactly which service is right for you before scheduling. Many clients know how they're feeling but aren't sure which appointment best fits their needs—and that's exactly what I'm here to help with.
If you're looking for hands-on treatment combined with movement-based care, choose the Integrated Wellness Session. If your primary goal is improving mobility, strength, balance, movement quality, and long-term function with little or no hands-on bodywork, the Functional Mobility Session is likely the better choice.
Still unsure? Simply book the service that seems closest to your goals. Every appointment begins with a conversation about your health history, concerns, and wellness goals, allowing your session to be individualized to your needs. If another service would better support your goals, I'll gladly discuss your options with you.

Helping You Build a Stronger Foundation for Lifelong Health
Functional Wellness Services are designed to help you move better, function more efficiently, and build healthier habits that support your long-term quality of life.
Rather than focusing solely on relieving symptoms, these individualized services address the way your body moves as a whole. By improving mobility, flexibility, balance, posture, strength, body mechanics, and movement efficiency, Functional Wellness Services help support healthier movement patterns that can make everyday activities easier and more comfortable.
Each session is personalized to your goals and may incorporate functional movement assessment, mobility training, corrective exercise, posture and body mechanics education, balance and stability training, wellness coaching, recovery strategies, lifestyle education, and individualized home exercise programming.
Whether you're looking to improve mobility, support healthy aging, return to activity, reduce injury risk, recover after physical activity, improve athletic performance, or simply move through life with greater comfort and confidence, every session is tailored specifically to your unique needs and lifestyle.
Because moving well isn't just about today—it's an investment in your long-term health, independence, and quality of life.
What to Expect
Every appointment begins with a Functional Wellness Consultation to discuss your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, daily activities, and movement goals.
From there, your individualized session is designed specifically for you. Depending on your needs, your appointment may integrate therapeutic massage, manual techniques, corrective exercise, functional mobility training, stretching, movement education, balance training, posture correction, and personalized wellness strategies.
Whenever appropriate, you'll also receive individualized home exercises, self-care recommendations, and practical movement strategies to help reinforce your progress between visits and support lasting results.
Our goal isn't simply to help you feel better during your appointment—it's to provide you with practical tools and strategies that help you continue moving better long after your visit is over.
